Kayla McCloskey

Kayla McCloskey began her training at Allegheny Ballet Company when she was eight years old, studying under the tutelage of Deborah Anthony and Cristin Burwell. She has attended programs at American Ballet Theatre, The School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet, where she was able to train with renowned teachers and choreographers.

After high school, she went onto pursue musical theatre, which led her to attend college at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She was taught by Elaine Petricoff, Evan Pappas, Stacy Lee Tilton, Ray Virta, Jason Chaet, among many others. Upon returning home to central Pennsylvania, Kayla revisited her roots to teach at Allegheny Ballet Company. After a year, she was offered a teaching position at the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania (Nittany Ballet), teaching students of all ages. Kayla also co-founded a professional contemporary ballet company, Boundless Bodies Contemporary Ballet.

She has had many opportunities to choreograph productions of The Nutcracker, standalone ballet, contemporary, and jazz pieces, as well as numerous musicals for community theatre and high school productions, and competition solo and group pieces.

Kayla is currently working full-time at Pennsylvania State University in the College of Education as an Academic Coordinator for graduate students, while also being a full-time student herself through Penn State’s World Campus program, studying psychology.

Kayla lives in State College with her husband Logan, dog Giselle, and two cats, Albus and Luna. During her free time, Kayla loves to rock climb, hike, and knit. She is excited to continue sharing her love for the arts through the beautiful art form of dance.
